Throughout the past few days my group and I have been using many research strategies to form plans for our music marketing projects. The material we have retained and then included has all been picked up from the Aice Media Studies Course, as well as more recently in our analysis of music media . I have found it fairly easy to make a marketing plan for the genre of music we received. When thinking of punk rock, your brain may lead you to more older audiences. However, one of the first things we discovered was that our target age for our marketing was in fact much younger. The range was roughly 17-26 years old. With this information we decided that we would approach our audiences through social apps like instagram, snapchat, and even Tik Tok.
With the knowledge to the form of approaching our audience, the group decided we should split up and both work on separate things. One other partner and I decided to focus on the video for our punk rock song. After a discussion, selecting the promotion form as a type of music video came with ease. For us promotional was the best way to illustrate our piece and give our band the best chance to become successful. Moving on, with the idea in mind, the next thing to do was layout each and every shot that we believed is essential to making the music video well constructed. I felt the importance of overshooting and having a plan for not just the video but also everything in this project was key and our group highlighted this.
The shot layout took a fair amount of brainstorming and productivity. Even though our piece is a promotional video we all still wanted it to include shots of meaning and technique. These shots will include certain lighting and some may even convey the message. Our promotional video will represent the out reach of our band and the physical playing of the new single being released. With the band in mind we then all came back together to select a name. Uniqueness for us was important. The name had to stand out and the logo with it as well. An agreement was come to and all decided on "Black Ash". We felt it brought through a very punk rock esque but also something different.
